With the relationships already built, I thought the characters reactions and feelings to one another were more believable, and I enjoyed seeing Katy acting like a proper teenager (using another guy to make another mad for instance, I’m tired of seeing female leads throwing themselves at the main leads whilst he walks all over them…) The book starts at a pretty slow pace plot-wise, though I enjoyed Katy’s interactions with both Daemon and his sister, since it was nice to see them building up relationships before the plot got underway, making the storyline (when the main plot kicked in) more realistic for me. Though he slowly warms up to Katy, he still manages to keep his distance whilst being completely charming, making him (in my books, anyway), the hottest, aloof yet secret sweet, protective guy to have graced YA history (after Dmitri from the Vampire Academy series) In fact, he does everything in his power to keep her away from him (and his sister). He’s sharp tongued, sarcastic and doesn’t want Katy as soon as he sees her (something which I absolutely LOVED, since I’m tiring of ‘love at first sight’ YA books). Her reaction to Daemon’s nasty attitude when she firsts meets him was, I thought, very realistic and made me like her even more.ĭaemon is of course, the bad boy. She’s witty, refreshing and doesn’t take Daemon’s (the main males lead) sh*t, instead dishing it back at him as he gives it, which I loved. She’s my kinda girl, and she’s not ashamed of being a book Nerd either. ![]() Katy loves Blogging and in particular writing book reviews and is known for locking herself in her room and just spending time on the Net. What’s not to love about this main character? I felt as soon as I read the first line of the book that I had a definite connection with the main character, Katy, by the fact that she is, quite frankly, a complete Nerd. No random floating / centered text where there should be none or weird sudden page breaks, so that was a bonus. Like most of my books, I bought this for my Kindle (2gen not 3 rd) and found all the coding for it to be superb. How many YA books are they about Aliens? Hardly none! (Also – have you seen the guy on the cover? Drool worthy, I must say, and look at those eyes!!! /swoon/) Looking at it, I had originally thought It was going to be a Werewolf book (What with the trees and the aura borealis in the background) but when I read the description, I was pleasantly surprised to see it was actually about Aliens. I mean, that summary had me really interested – but more than that, the cover really drew me in. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. ![]() ![]() Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens. Things were looking up.ĭaemon is infuriating. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. Prequel: None, though at the back of Obsidian there was two snippets of certain chapters from a main characters POV (Which were a really nice insight to read).
